Entry Requirement – Postgraduate Diploma

The entry requirements for the PgD Programme in Mining Engineering are:

  • Applicants for the PgD programme in Mining Engineering must have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree Second Class (lower division) in Mining Engineering or its equivalent from a recognised university.
  • In exceptional cases, applicants with a Bachelor’s degree Third Class in Mining Engineering from a recognised university with at least one year working experience in mining and also obtained certificate of competency (blasting) and first aid certificate would be eligible for admission.
  • Applicants for the PgD programme in Mining Engineering must have a minimum of Bachelor’s degree Second Class (lower division) in Mining Engineering or its equivalent from a recognised university.
  • Applicants with a minimum of Bachelor’s degree Second Class (lower division) or its equivalent from a recognised university in any of the following mining related disciplines with at least two years working experience in mining and also obtained certificate of competency (blasting) and first aid certificates: Mineral Engineering, Geomatic Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Earth Science and Chemical Engineering.
  • Applicants with a minimum of Bachelor’s degree Second Class (lower division) or its equivalent from a recognised university in any of the following mining related disciplines with at least two years working experience in mining and also obtained certificate of competency (blasting) and first aid certificates: Mineral Engineering, Geomatic Engineering, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Environmental Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Earth Science and Chemical Engineering.
  • In exceptional cases, applicants with a Bachelor’s degree (third class) from a recognised university in any of the disciplines stated in (iii) supra with at least three years working experience in mining and also obtained certificate of competency (blasting) and first aid certificates would be eligible for admissions.
  • International applicants must in addition have evidence of proficiency in English language.
