A Welcome Message from the Dean

On behalf of the Board and Management, I welcome you to the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPS) of the University of Mines and Technology, Tarkwa.

The University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa is dedicated to fostering an environment that makes it increasingly relevant to national and international development through cutting-edge research and top-notch teaching and learning in its quest to become a world-class research-intensive university. As a result, the SPS is positioned at the centre of the University’s effort to realize this objective.

All postgraduate-level, academic programmes for Schools, Faculties and Departments within the University are coordinated by the SPS.

The School’s mandate, as part of its coordination role, includes promoting the development, diversification and efficient delivery of post-graduate programmes to address national issues, upholding high standards and quality programmes output, as well as training students to obtain higher degrees in Engineering, Management and Mining related programmes.

The School also handles all issues relating to the welfare of postgraduate students, official correspondence, evaluation of theses, registration, record keeping and admission. Our faculty members are highly qualified experts with lots of experience using current and cutting-edge teaching techniques, which makes the teaching and learning process incredibly engaging.

Our alumni are therefore self-assured and present themselves as globally relevant professionals in their fields, and we are proud of the many possibilities and knowledge we provide the global community. We take pride in our alumni and students, and we think that every new student will contribute to our tradition of academic success.
