About Us
The Department grew from the Department of Petroleum Engineering now the Department of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. It was established in 2020 as part of the University’s mandate to produce world class professionals for the petroleum industry and other related fields and also falls in line with the government of Ghana’s vision to promote local content participation in the petroleum industry in a bid to maximise value addition, job creation and revenue retention in the country as enshrined in Regulation 1(a) of the Local Content and Local Participation Regulations, 2013 (LI 2204).
The objectives of the Department are to provide higher education in petroleum geosciences through effective teaching and learning; advance knowledge through innovative research and sharing of petroleum geosciences information; promote creative and critical thinking in exploration, development and production of hydrocarbon resources; and render professional services and collaborate with other petroleum geosciences community.
