Welcome to the Department of Petroleum Geosciences and Engineering were we believe that Petroleum Geosciences is the heartbeat of Exploration and Production. The Department plays a pivotal role in the training of professionals for the upstream sector of the oil and gas industry since our programmes focus on all aspects of upstream geosciences, from exploration, through field appraisal and development, to maximising recovery for young and matured fields. We have seasoned faculty and specialist who are dedicated to mentoring and sharing knowledge to equip our students with the skills needed in the analysis of subsurface features.

Our degree programme has been carefully put together and has received input and endorsement from stakeholders. Locally and within in Africa, the Department is supported by industry partners such as the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Ghana Geological Survey Authority, the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria and other global partners. Graduates from our programme are equipped to work as Exploration Geologists, Production Geologists, Petroleum Geochemist, Exploration Geophysicists, and Development Geophysicists with top multinational and independent petroleum exploration and production companies’ petroleum service companies, geophysical exploration, and service companies as well as governmental agencies and regulatory bodies across the world.
